Communication Executives Program (CEP)


CEP is an executive developments program aimed at preparing information and communication executives to move from the specialist role to participation in the general management of the organisation.

It is designed to deepen the overall knowledge of the proficient specialist. The programme has two parts. The first is four modules broadening the knowledge in four areas: Business environment, Relationship creating processes, Operation management, Economic accounting and financial management. The second part is two modules on leadership, one in personal leadership and the other in leadership related to communication processes. Each module is four days. All in all, the programme has six modules, running from February to November. Between each module the participants has an assignment, reflecting the content of each module to their work as communication executives.

Module 1
The programme starts with a full inventory of the various perspectives one can put on the business environment, ranging from technical, regulatory, cognitive to institutional. The purpose with this module is to problemize the concept of business environment as different perspective call for different managerial measures.

Module 2
Then the programme addresses the first managerial toolbox in creating relationships between the organisation and the environment and within the organisation itself. This module takes point of departure in the various perspectives of the environment presented in the first module.

Module 3
This module covers the full range of operation management from an organisational effectiveness perspective. It covers all kinds of operations taking point of departure in a strategic perspective on operations.

Module 4
The fourth module is focused on economic and financial processes. It lifts the participant from the level of basic economic accounting the delicate problems in making financials effective as steering mechanism and the problem that arises as various financial reporting systems stands in conflict to each other.

Module 5
With this module the programme turns in to leadership issues and it covers such issues relating to personality and social processes. It is designed as various personal training processes helping the participants’ getting insight into their abilities as leaders.

Module 6
The final module is in a way covering the content in all the others, but do it from a communication perspective. It contains cases and lectures in how to manage the communication process in order to make it business effective.

CEP has been going for 8 years and it has reached a very high reputation in the Swedish community for communication executives. As a matter of fact CEP has been found by recruitment consultant to increase communication executives’ proficiency substantially. CEP is developed in cooperation between the Swedish Public Relations Association and Stockholm School of Economics.
